Moana 2 didn’t always begin life as a big screen sequel. As Disney began putting most of their efforts into streaming, they developed it as a series for Disney+. Then CEO Bob Iger decided that they needed to start making money at the movies again, and…well, Disney is poised to do just that as Moana is a film that audiences absolutely loved and want to see more.
The familiar voice cast returns for Moana 2. Auliʻi Cravalho is back as the heroic title character, who gets a mysterious call from her wayfinding ancestors that sets off another epic journey across the seas. And you couldn’t have Moana without Dwayne Johnson as the voice of powerful warrior demigod, Maui.
Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, Rachel House, and Alan Tudyk return to the voice cast, joined by new additions Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda, Rose Matafeo, David Fane, and Hualai Chung. The film is directed by David G. Derrick, Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller.
