‘Balls Up’: Mark Wahlberg And Paul Walter Hauser To Star In Peter Farrelly’s Action-Comedy

Remember Peter Farrelly: “Serious Director”? Yeah, he split from his brother Bobby and delivered the Best Picture Oscar winner, Green Book, but since then it’s been a slide back to his silly comedy roots. Following this year’s dreadful comedy Ricky Stanicky, Farrelly is gearing up to direct Balls Up, an action-comedy that will star Mark Wahlberg and Paul Walter Hauser.

The Skydance and Amazon MGM project follows “two American marketing executives who are fired for blowing a client sponsorship opportunity and decide to use their free tickets to a major soccer match. Their drunken debauchery leads them to be hunted by every person across the country.”

There are reasons for optimism, though. First, the Balls Up screenplay is by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the duo behind Deadpool, Zombieland, and Deadpool & Wolverine. They’re funny guys who know their way around raunchy buddy comedy.

Wahlberg is an old pro at action-comedy, as well, and Hauser should make an excellent wingman. Hauser might be the busiest actor around right now. Not only did he just voice Embarrassment in Inside Out 2, but he’s got the Chris Farley biopic coming up, plus Marvel’s The Fantastic Four, the Naked Gun reboot, and many more projects. [Deadline]
