Steven Spielberg’s Next Movie With David Koepp To Hit Theaters In May 2026

Whatever Steven Spielberg’s next movie is gonna be, it’s coming out on May 15th 2026. The announcement was made by Universal and Amblin Entertainment, setting a date for the “original event movie” that Spielberg created and will direct.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but we know it’ll have a script by frequent collaborator David Koepp, based on an original story idea by Spielberg. That suggests his next is the original UFO movie he and Koepp are developing. The other option is Spielberg’s Bullitt film with Bradley Cooper, but we haven’t heard anything about it in two years.

Spielberg and Koepp have made a lot of money together over the years. Their four previous collaborations: Jurassic Park, The Lost World, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, have made more than $3B. If I were a studio I would never let these two make a movie with anybody else.

The last movie by Spielberg was 2022’s semi-autobiographical drama The Fabelmans. While it didn’t blow up the box office with just $45M, it did earn seven Academy Award nominations. His most recent blockbuster smash was Ready Player One in 2018, which earned over $600M. [THR]
