Steven Spielberg Plots Original UFO Movie With ‘War Of The Worlds’ Writer David Koepp

The sci-fi genre is one that Steven Spielberg is very comfortable with and has often turned to easily after a dramatic venture. So it’s unsurprising that, after his semi-autobiographical drama The Fabelmans, Spielberg is eyeing a return to sci-fi with an original, untitled UFO story from War of the Worlds and Jurassic Park writer David Koepp.

Variety has news on the project, but details are scarce. It’s likely that Amblin would be involved at the studio level, as well as producer and longtime collaborator Frank Marshall. It’s unclear what the story involves, though, so let the speculation begin.

Spielberg and Koepp have a solid track record when working together. Not only the first two Jurassic Park movies, but also War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull. Koepp was also one of the many writers to try and crack Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny before James Mangold came aboard.

Will this new UFO project take precedent over Spielberg’s Bullitt movie with Bradley Cooper? Something to ponder, and hopefully there will be answers soon.
