Margot Robbie Steps Up To Star In ‘Avengelyne’ Movie For Director Olivia Wilde

Well, the best-case scenario has taken shape for the upcoming Avengelyne movie, an adaptation of Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld’s comic book series. A teamup of director Olivia Wilde and producers Margot Robbie and Simon Kinberg, the hope was always that Robbie would eventually take the lead. And that is what Variety is reporting now, along with some other good news for the project.

Along with Robbie starring as the angelic titular superheroine, Avengelyne has also added Oscar-nominated Poor Things and The Favourite writer, Tony McNamara.

The story centers on a fallen angel cast down to earth to find and protect The One, a person who must defend the world from demons. Liefeld’s comic was red hot back in the ’90s when he was one of the top artists in the business, fueled by violent heroes with big muscles, big guns, and ladies with big boobs. In a way, Avengelyne feels sorta dated, but Deadpool also emerged from this era and he’s one of the most popular characters in the world with a hit movie franchise. Who says the same can’t happen with Avengelyne?
