New ‘Spider-Man: Across The Universe’ Trailer Reveals Miles Morales’ Mission Of Sacrifice

It truly is a great time to be a Spider-Man fan. Along with Marvel Studios’ successful trilogy of live-action movies, there’s also Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the sequel to the Oscar-winning Into the Spider-Verse. While the first trailer introduced us to an entire multiverse of spider-heroes, the latest footage reveals that Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) finds himself on the run from them.

The question is why? Miles’ life on Earth is occupied by the usual stuff for a teenage superhero, balancing crime-fighting activities with teen angst and a healthy dose of secrecy about his double life. While there are battles with supervillains like The Spot (Jason Schwartzman), it’s a reunion with his friend Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) that brings him into another exciting multi-dimensional adventure.

While we’ve already been introduced to Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099, voiced by Oscar Isaac, this trailer also shows that he’ll be leading the chase…against Miles, who is on a mission of “sacrifice.” Looks like another Spider-Man is going to have to endure incredible tragedy to save others.

Also in the voice cast are Issa Rae as Spider-Woman, Jake Johnson who returns as Peter Parker, Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk, plus Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Shea Whigham, Jorma Taccone, Greta Lee, and Rachel Dratch.

Spider-Man: Across the Universe opens June 2nd 2023, but it’s only part one of an epic two-parter. The second, Beyond the Spider-Verse, opens March 29th 2024.
