‘Jurassic World’: Mahershala Ali Joins New Dino-Sequel With Scarlett Johansson

Has Mahershala Ali ditched Blade for Jurassic World? With that Marvel film going nowhere fast, Ali is reportedly in talks to join the Jurassic sequel/reboot which will feature an all-new cast,

It’s unclear who the Oscar-winning Moonlight star will be in the film, but then plot details remain under wraps. Ali joins a cast that includes Scarlet Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. Loads of rumors are out there about other potential stars, and with shooting set to begin this month, we can expect more news to follow. Chris Pratt has played coy on whether he will return, but as of now he is not expected to come back. Other rumors have the title as Jurassic City, with the action taking place in a major metropolis setting.

Directing is Gareth Edwards, fresh off of last year’s The Creator, a big-budget flop that nonetheless reconfirmed his skill with special effects-heavy productions. The script is by David Koepp, writer of the original Jurassic Park. Universal has set a release date of July 2nd 2025.

Again, Ali has been attached to Marvel’s Blade film for around five years with nothing happening. It’s certainly not going anywhere now with him busy on this. [THR]
