‘Trap’ Trailer: M. Night Shyamalan’s Serial Killer Thriller Features Josh Hartnett And Saleka At A Pop Star Concert

The Shyamalan family tree is spreading roots. M. Night Shyamalan’s daughter Ishana is making her directorial debut in The Watchers, a horror that looks a lot like something her father would do. And as M. Night makes his move to Warner Bros. with the serial killer thriller, Trap, he’s cast his eldest daughter, rising R&B star Saleka, in one of the lead roles.

After debuting at CinemaCon, the first trailer for Trap has arrived, and it’s got some Shyamalan-esque twists to be sure. The film stars Josh Hartnett as a father who accompanies his daughter to a pop star’s concert, only to discover the place is crawling with cops who are on the trail of a serial killer.

One thing I hate is that the trailer gives away one swerve, but knowing Shaymalan there will be at least a couple more.

Also in the cast are Pollyanna herself Hayley Mills and Marnie McPhail.

Here’s the brief synopsis: A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.

Trap opens in theaters on August 9th.
