‘Rebel Moon-Part Two: The Scargiver’ Trailer: Zack Snyder Goes Bigger With Epic Sci-Fi Sequel Next Month

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon opened last December and wasn’t as well-received as his previous Netflix film, Army of the Dead. But bad reviews have never stopped Snyder before. They actually seem to encourage him to go even bigger, and based on the new trailer for Rebel Moon-Part Two: The Scargiver, that’s exactly what he’s done.

Initially designed by Snyder to be a Star Wars take on Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, that idea is finally coming to fruition. Sofia Boutella returns as Kora, who along with her ragtag group of warriors must defend the planet Veldt from the iron grip of the evil Imperium.

Most of the cast from the previous movie return, and that includes Ed Skrein as the villainous and ironically-named Noble, who survived a near-death encounter. Joining Boutella and Skrein are Djimon Hounsou, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Anthony Hopkins as the voice of Jimmy, Staz Nair, Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Sigurðsson, Alfonso Herrera, Cary Elwes, Rhian Rees, Elise Duffy, Sky Yang, Charlotte Maggi, and Ray Fisher.

Here’s the synopsis: Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver continues the epic saga of Kora and the surviving warriors as they prepare to sacrifice everything, fighting alongside the brave people of Veldt, to defend a once peaceful village, a newfound homeland for those who have lost their own in the fight against the Motherworld. On the eve of their battle the warriors must face the truths of their own pasts, each revealing why they fight. As the full force of the Realm bears down on the burgeoning rebellion, unbreakable bonds are forged, heroes emerge, and legends are made.

In August we’ll also be getting two more versions of Rebel Moon part 1 and part 2, each rated-R and totaling about six hours in length. But will there be much demand if these films don’t have an audience? I have to admit, while this trailer has way too much going on, it has better looking action and a story that appears to make more sense. Let’s hope.

Rebel Moon-Part Two: The Scargiver hits Netflix on April 19th.
