James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Adds Wendell Pierce As Daily Planet Boss Perry White

Bunk Moreland is coming to Metropolis! It’s being reported that Wendell Pierce, the fantastic actor best known for playing detective Bunk Moreland on HBO’s The Wire, has joined the cast of James Gunn’s newly-titled Superman. And not only that, but Pierce will take on the role of Perry White, Daily Planet editor-in-chief and the boss of Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

The news comes soon after the start of production, revealed just a couple of days ago by Gunn. Pierce now joins a cast that includes David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner) and María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer).

Laurence Fishburne most recently played Perry White in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Frank Langella played him in Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns, and Jackie Cooper in the Christopher Reeve films.

Superman opens in theaters on July 11th 2025. [Deadline]
