‘The Horror Of Dolores Roach’ Trailer: Justina Machado Goes From Masseuse To Murderer In Blumhouse’s Prime Video Series

It’s always great to see Justina Machado get a moment in the spotlight. The One Day at a Time, Six Feet Under, and Jane the Virgin actress stars in the upcoming series, The Horror of Dolores Roach, and considering this is a Blumhouse joint, Machado’s hands are about to get bloody.

Actually, her “magic hands”. Machado plays the titular Dolores Roach, who is released from prison after an unjust 16 years, only to find she has no means of getting back on her feet. That is until her stoner friend lets her open up a massage parlor in the basement of his empanada shop. Her talent earns her the nickname “Magic Hands”, but when someone threatens her newfound security, Dolores goes to violent extremes to protect it.

The series also stars Alejandro Hernandez, Kita Updike, and K. Todd Freeman, with Marc Maron in a pivotal guest role. This is yet another show adapted from a Spotify podcast, this one by Aaron Mark who co-showruns with Dara Resnik.

The Horror of Dolores Roach hits Prime Video on July 7th.

The Horror of Dolores Roach, based on the hit Spotify podcast series of the same name, is a contemporary Sweeney Todd-inspired urban legend of love, betrayal, weed, cannibalism, and survival of the fittest. Dolores Roach (Justina Machado) is released after an unjust 16-year prison sentence, and she returns to a gentrified Washington Heights. Dolores reunites with an old stoner friend, Luis (Alejandro Hernandez), who lets her live and work as a masseuse in the basement under his empanada shop. When the promise of her newfound stability is quickly threatened, “Magic Hands” Dolores is driven to shocking extremes to survive.
