‘Voyagers’: Andrew Garfield And Daisy Edgar-Jones Reteam For Sebastián Lelio’s Carl Sagan Drama

The last time Andrew Garfield and Daisy Edgar-Jones were paired up, the result was the critically-acclaimed series Under the Banner of Heaven. Now they aim for similar accolades on the big screen with Voyagers, a Carl Sagan biopic from director Sebastián Lelio.

Set in 1977, Voyagers centers on the launch of the Voyager spacecraft, with Carl Sagan leading the NASA team tasked with the launch of humanity’s first interstellar probes, along with the Voyager Golden Records meant for any extraterrestrial life that may find them. It’s also during this hectic time that Sagan falls in love with his eventual wife, NASA Creative Director Ann Druyan.

Lelio co-wrote the script with Druyan and Jessica Goldberg, using interviews with Druyan and others involved in the Voyager project. He’s coming off his recent Netflix film, The Wonder, and is known for other acclaimed features such as Gloria and A Fantastic Woman.
