‘The Invite’: Amy Adams, Paul Rudd, & Tessa Thompson Join Sex Comedy From ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ Directors

The comic Force is strong with the upcoming sex comedy, The Invite, that Deadline says will boast the talents of Amy Adams, Paul Rudd, and Tessa Thompson. But the bonafides stretch to behind the camera, with directing duo Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton, known for Little Miss Sunshine, and the writing team of Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, known for Celeste & Jesse Forever and a little thing called Toy Story 4.

The Invite is based on Sentimental, the Cesc Gay‘s Goya Award-winning 2020 Spanish film. This new version centers on Angela and Joe, played by Adams and Rudd, a married couple stuck in a  rut. In hopes of breaking them out of it, Angela invites their brazen neighbors Kayla (Thompson) and her husband Shane, over for drinks. Little do Angela and Joe know, but Kayla and Shane host a weekly neighborhood orgy and are hoping to get them to join in.

This sounds hilarious, but sex comedies can be tricky. The Invite is expected to arrive in 2024.
