‘Robots’ Trailer: Shailene Woodley And Jack Whitehall Are The Perfect Robot Couple

As artificial intelligence gains a larger foothold in our society, it’s only a matter of time before it invades the dating scene. What happens when people start sending AI versions of themselves to those speed-dating events, eh? Well, something along those lines happens in the new comedy, Robots, which finds Shailene Woodley and Jack Whitehall pulling double duty.

As seen in the trailer for Robots, the film is set in the not-too-distant future when robots are a common part of society. Whitehall’s character is a womanizer, while Woodley’s is a golddigger. After sending robot “doubles” of themselves out on a date, the robots decide they’re better off without their respective humans. It’s up to the humans to learn a little something about what being human really means as they pursue their robot counterparts.

The film is co-written and co-directed by Casper Christensen (Klown) and Anthony Hines (The Dictator), two filmmakers who have found the funny in our doomed robot-dominated future.

Robots opens in theaters and VOD on May 19th.
