‘The Night Agent’ Trailer: Gabriel Basso Tracks A White House Conspiracy In Netflix’s New Action Series

Enjoyed Netflix’s The Recruit? Or perhaps you found it leaned a bit too hard on the comedy side for your liking? If the latter, perhaps The Night Agent is more your speed as it looks like it would fit nicely alongside Jack Ryan. The action series stars Gabriel Basso as a low-level FBI agent who discovers a Russian mole has infiltrated the White House.

Matthew Quirk’s novel serves as basis for the series created by Shawn Ryan, known for hard-hitting action shows such as The Shield, Terriers, and S.W.A.T.

Basso, who I always think looks like a cross between Chris Pine and Richard Madden, recently starred in Hillbilly Elegy. He was really good a few years ago in The Kings of Summer, but this could be the project that helps him truly break out. He’s joined in the cast by Luciane Buchanan, D.B. Woodside, Fola Evans-Akingbola, and Eve Harlow. Phoenix Raei, Enrique Murciano, Sarah Desjardin, and The Whale Oscar nominee Hong Chau. Seth Gordon (Baywatch) and Millicent Shelton (Ride) share directing chores, with Gordon also an exec-producer.

The Night Agent hits Netflix on March 23rd.

Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, The Night Agent is a sophisticated, character-based, action-thriller centering on a low level FBI Agent who works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings — until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast moving and dangerous conspiracy that ultimately leads all the way to the Oval Office.
