Madonna Scraps Biopic About Herself, Goes On Tour instead

The Material Girl has decided she’d rather make music (and money) than make a movie. Madonna has reportedly scrapped the upcoming biopic about herself that she was going to co-write and direct. This comes after a casting process that saw Ozark actress Julia Garner emerge as the frontrunner.

According to THR, Madonna has decided to go on a world tour (she’s coming to DC by the way, folks) rather than make the film. Obviously, a tour of this magnitude would put any kind of film project in a serious delay. It’s also looking as if Universal put the film in turnaround, so it sounds like they didn’t want it, anyway. So it may never have gotten off the ground.

The film would’ve had a script by Erin Cressida Wilson (Secretary) and Madonna. By the sound of it, the script never passed muster with Universal…

“You have 40 years of success, and it’s very hard to put that into one movie,” a source noted.

Well, maybe something incredible will happen on this tour and Madonna will have something else to put in a film. This might’ve been for the best, actually.
