‘Captain America: New World Order’ Reportedly Eyes Jessica Chastain For Villain Role

As if there weren’t enough movie rumors throughout the year, they really go to the next level during the quiet holidays. And so here’s one rumor that, while dubious, is one that I hope is true because it would mean Jessica Chastain joining the MCU.

So-called “scooper” MyTimetoShineHello says Chastain is being eyed for the main villain role in Captain America: New World Order. This wouldn’t be Chastain’s first Marvel role, as she played villain Vuk in 2019’s Dark Phoenix back when the X-Men were still with Fox.

The story goes that there will be five villains that Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson will be dealing with. Harrison Ford is set to take over as General Thunderbolt Ross, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Tim Blake Nelson who returns as Hulk baddie The Leader. Also in the cast are Shira Haas as Sabra, Carl Lumbly back as Isaiah Bradley, and Danny Ramirez who returns as Falcon.

While there have been rumors out there that Red Skull’s daughter Sin will be the chief villain, and thus Chastain’s role, right now that is unclear and it could be someone else entirely.

Captain America: New World Order opens May 3rd 2024, directed by Julius Onah.
