The ‘Cocaine Bear’ Poster Teases A Grizzly, Drug-Fueled Rampage

Where is the Cocaine Bear trailer already? Yesterday, the first poster was released for the hotly-anticipated action comedy, based on a real story about a coked-up bear, giving hope that we’d be seeing some footage by now. Alas, so far it has not happened and we continue away that trailer like a fiend awaits his next snort of fresh blow.

The film is directed by Elizabeth Banks and stars Keri Russell, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Alden Ehrenreich, Brooklynn Prince, Kristofer Hivju, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Matthew Rhys, and Margo Martindale. It centers on an American black bear that goes on a murderous rampage after accidentally ingesting a ton of cocaine.

So where does this insane idea come from? Well, it’s based on events that took place in Kentucky in 1985, when a bear swallowed a cache of cocaine thrown from a plane by Andrew Thornton, a former Lexington narcotics agent who became a drug smuggler. Thornton died while parachuting out of the plane carrying $15M in cocaine over Knoxville.

Cocaine Bear promises to be wild, and it opens on my birthday, February 24th. Yeah, buddy!
