‘The Penguin’: Cristin Milioti To Play Sofia Falcone In ‘The Batman’ HBO Max Spinoff Series

The landscape has changed at Warner Bros. Discovery with the creation of DC Studios, but Matt Reeves keeps charging on. The world of The Batman is expanding with HBO Max series The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell as the Gotham City villain. And now that series has added its next big cast member in what should be a major role.

Deadline reports that Palm Springs and Made for Love actress Cristin Milioti has joined The Penguin in the role of Sofia Falcone. She would be the daughter to mob boss Carmine Falcone, who was played by John Turturro in The Batman. She’ll be battling Pengin/Oswald Cobblepot for control of the Gotham criminal underworld.

In the comics, Sofia is part of a family line that extends beyond organized crime. Her brother Alberto turns out to be mass-murderer the “Holiday Killer”. Sofia herself would also eventually be revealed as the killer known as The Hangman, who targeted members of the Gotham City Police Department. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this part of her story explored on the screen in some way.

It remains to be seen how connected this show will be to Antonio Campos’ series that explores Arkham Asylum, which houses many of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals.
