Following In ‘Winnie The Pooh: Blood & Honey’s’ Footsteps, Bambi And The Grinch Have Horror Parodies On The Way

When horror parody Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey attracted so much attention for its grisly trailer, I knew it was the start of something bigger. Other beloved characters from children’s story classics are being turned into savage killers, first with The Grinch, and followed by Bambi. Oh Bambi, say it ain’t so!

Atlas Film Distribution has dropped a trailer for its Grinch parody, The Mean One, which stars Terrifer 2‘s David Howard Thornton as the familiar ruiner of Christmas. In this film, he murders the parents of young Cindy You-Know-Who (played by Krystle Martin) on Christmas Eve. Yeah, that’ll kill the mood alright! But 20 years later, a well-trained Cindy comes back looking for revenge!

This obviously low-budget affair is directed by Steven LaMorte, and I can see it already lighting up midnight showings in big cities throughout the country. Check out the trailer below.

As if that wasn’t enough, there’s also Bambi: The Reckoning! The sweet and innocent deer of Disney fame has murder on its mind in the upcoming film from Blood and Honey team ITN Studios and Jagged Edge Productions.

Dread Central says the film will be “an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love. Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix’s The Ritual, Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness. Prepare for Bambi on rabies!”

I’ve only seen bits and pieces of 2017’s The Ritual, but my friends have said it is pretty awesome. The creature at the heart of that survival horror looks like a fucked-up mutated reindeer…

Definitely not the Bambi we know and love. I wonder what happened to Thumper??
