Now that all of the question marks surrounding Henry Cavill’s return as Superman are over, the actor is taking steps to free up his schedule. And the one biggest pull on his time is Netflix’s hit series, The Witcher, and, well, it’s gotta go.
Cavill, as well as Netflix, have confirmed that after the third season of The Witcher, he’ll exit the series and hand his swords over to Liam Hemsworth who will play Geralt of Rivera for season four.
I’m not going to crap on Hemsworth. He’s perfectly fine in stuff like Independence Day: Resurgence, but he’s not his brother Chris. Chris is probably the only Hemsworth fans would be okay replacing Cavill.
Speaking of which, Cavill had a few things to say about it on his IG account…
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him; enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”
I think this is the clearest sign yet that Cavill is clearing the schedule for a Man of Steel 2 production. Don’t be surprised if news on that drops fairly soon.
It’s official: The Witcher is returning for Season 4, and Henry Cavill will be handing his swords to Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt of Rivia after Season 3. Welcome to the Witcher family, @LiamHemsworth!
