‘Glass Onion’: Rian Johnson Confirms Key Detail About Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc

As I said in my recent review of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, we learn a lot about detective Benoit Blanc this time around. Not just about him as a skilled sleuth, but his personal life. Well, Rian Johnson has gone ahead and revealed perhaps the biggest new detail about Blanc: his sexuality.

In a recent press conference, Johnson confirmed that Daniel Craig’s southern detective Benoit Blanc is, in fact, queer. And once you see the movie it becomes clear as day since he’s seen living with another man in more than a platonic relationship…

Yes, he obviously is,” replied Johnson to a question about Blanc being a gay man. He continued, “And there’s nobody in the world I can imagine in bringing me more joy for Benoit Blanc to be with.”

Obviously, I’m not going to give that little nugget away, but suffice it to say there are a lot of really fun cameos to look forward to.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery opens in theaters on November 23rd for one week before hitting Netflix on December 23rd.
