‘Wendell & Wild’ Trailer: Jordan Peele & Keegan-Michael Key Voice Unruly Demons In Henry Selick’s Animated Horror-Fantasy

In the field of animation, I don’t know if they get more genius than Henry Selick. The visual mastermind behind The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, and 2009’s Coraline is back with his first film in thirteen years with Wendell & Wild. The Netflix film features a script by Selick and some guy named Jordan Peele, ever heard of him? Obviously, that’s reason enough to be interested. And then you get a look at the trailer and, yeah, this is a must-see.

The dark, horror-fantasy style that Selick favor is beautifully on display in the trailer for Wendell & Wild. Peele, in a reunion with Keegan-Michael Key, voice demon brothers who recruit a tough 13-year-old girl to bring them into the land of the living. Hilarity all sorts of supernatural weirdness, ensues.

Lyric Ross, Angela Bassett, Tamara Strong, James Hong, and Ving Rhames also have voice roles.

I’ve seen a good chunk of this already thanks to Netflix, and there’s even more stunning stuff to look at than what’s in this footage.

Wendell & Wild hits Netflix on October 28th.

From the delightfully wicked minds of Henry Selick and Jordan Peele, comes Wendell & Wild, an animated tale about scheming demon brothers Wendell (Keegan-Michael Key) and Wild (Peele) – who enlist the aid of 13-year-old Kat Elliot – a tough teen with a load of guilt – to summon them to the Land of the Living. But what Kat demands in return leads to a brilliantly bizarre and comedic adventure like no other, an animated fantasy that defies the law of life and death, all told through the handmade artistry of stop motion.
