‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ Sequel Shooting Now With Adam Wingard Back To Direct

When the pandemic was at its worst, expectations for blockbuster films had to be altered greatly. In the case of Godzilla vs. Kong, the $200M MonsterVerse sequel did pretty good with $470M worldwide. Again, there’s a curve. But Warner Bros. and Legendary liked what they saw, and the previously-announced sequel has begun filming according to BusinessWire.

Back to corral this epic clash of the Titans is director Adam Wingard, and he’s got a lot on his plate to contend with. According to the trade, the upcoming clash will find Godzilla and Kong “against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own.” Also, expect to learn more about Skull Island’s origins, the history of the Titans, and the mythical battles that tied the Titans to humankind.

Returning to star are previous cast members Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, and Kaylee Hottle, joined by new additions Dan Stevens, Rachel House, Fala Chen, and Alex Ferns. Terry Rosio, who wrote the previous film, returns to co-write the script with Jeremy Slater and Simon Barrett.

Godzilla vs. Kong 2 has a release date of March 15th 2024, and it’ll be interesting to see how it ties in to the growing MonsterVerse and its many spinoffs.
