Nothing Is What It Seems In The Trailer For IFC’s ‘Rogue Agent’

It was a simpler time when Bill Paxton’s bumbling lothario pretended to be a secret agent to woo Jamie Lee Curtis in True Lies. IFC Film’s upcoming Rogue Agent is that…but also not, really really not. The fact that it’s based on a true story makes the trailer below all the more chilling. Gemma Arterton (swoon) plays Alice Archer, a victim of conman James Norton and while victim is a fitting title for what happens to Archer she is certainly not like the others he’s scammed into hiding.

If the film pulls off the tonal shifts the same way the trailer presents we are in for a good time. I get hints of that early-mid 90s erotic thriller boom here, and while I’m sure this will be far more tame then those movies it really feels like the thriller aspect will be in full gear.
