‘Vengeance’ Trailer: BJ Novak Directs And Stars In A Darkly Comic True Crime Satire

The Office is already one of the most beloved sitcoms in American TV history, but what it may become known for most is the sheer wealth of talent that used as a springboard to a greater career. Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Ed Helms, Craig Robinson, Mindy Kaling, and so many more have passed through that workplace comedy and become larger stars. But let’s not forget BJ Novak, who played Ryan Howard on the show, as he’s now embarking on his directorial debut, Blumhouse’s dark comic thriller Vengeance.

Novak wrote, directed, and stars in Vengeance, joined by a cast that includes , Issa Rae, Ashton Kutcher, Boyd Holbrook, J. Smith-Cameron, Lio Tipton, Isabella Amara, and Dove Cameron. The story is a satire of true crime podcasts, and finds Novak starring as conceited radio host Ben Manalowitz, who flies from New York to Texas to attend the funeral of a woman he used to hook up with. While there, he begins an investigation into her death after her brother reveals she may have been murdered.

Vengeance opens in theaters on July 29th.
