‘Russian Doll’ Season 2 Trailer: Natasha Lyonne Takes Over As The Trippy Netflix Series Returns

Whoa. I forgot all about Russian Doll. The first season at Netflix was quite a trip. From creator Leslye Headland and star Natasha Lyonne, the series followed a video game designer who gets stuck in a time-loop where she keeps dying and repeating the same day, stuck in this awful party until forever, it seems. Well, it’s been quite a long wait, but the second season is here and so is a trailer. But man, there have been some big changes.

So Lyonne is still there leading the way, but now she’s also directing, writing, and starring in every episode. Oh, and she’s the showrunner, too. Wha’s up? Well, Headland is still around as an exec-producer but she’s got this little Star Wars thing coming up so….yeah. A bit busy.

Anyway, of the new cast the most exciting is definitely Annie Murphy, which should make Schitt’s Creek fans very excited. Here’s the season synopsis:

Set four years after Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Barnett) escaped mortality’s time loop together, season two of RUSSIAN DOLL will continue to explore existential thematics through an often humorous and sci-fi lens. Discovering a fate even worse than endless death, this season finds Nadia and Alan delving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal located in one of Manhattan’s most notorious locations, the New York City subway. At first, they experience this as an ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure, but they soon discover this extraordinary event might be more than they bargained for and, together, must search for a way out.

Russian Doll season 2 hits Netflix on April 20th.
