‘Flux Gourmet’ Trailer: Peter Strickland’s Culinary Rock Horror Arrives In June

If you loved the giallo, vintage horrors of Peter Strickland, The Duke of Burgundy, In Fabric, and Berbarian Sound Studio, then get ready for a culinary nightmare with his latest, Flux Gourmet. This insane-sounding film finds a sonic collective with internal power struggles having a creative clash with the head of a culinary institute where perfection is the only standard.

The cast is led by Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Ariane Labed (The Lobster), plus Fatma Mohamed, Makis Papadimitriou, Leo Bill, and Richard Bremmer.

Strickland has spoken in the past about encounters with certain investors and how they inspired Flux Gourmet. Watching the trailer, at least on the musical side, I’m also seeing a lot of This is Spinal Tap influence, and it’s pretty fascinating the idea of Strickland tackling that space.

Flux Gourmet opens via IFC Midnight on June 24th in theaters and digital.
