Sonic the Hedgehog wasn’t just one of the most entertaining video game movies ever made, it was a huge hit just before the pandemic began shutting everything down. Paramount has found something special in SEGA’s iconic blue mascot, and now they’re ramping things up to another level with Sonic the Hedgehog 2, adding Idris Elba to the cast as Sonic’s hot-headed rival, Knuckles.
Ben Schwartz returns as Sonic, with Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Miles “Tails” Prower, who was teased at the end of the first movie. Along with Knuckles, all three are seen in the new Super Bowl Big Game Spot, which also features Jim Carrey’s return as Dr. Robotnik, now looking more like his video game counterpart. We also get a glimpse at his Death Egg Robot, which should be pretty awesome.
Once again directed by Jeff Fowler, with James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, and Shemar Moore co-starring, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 opens April 8th.
