‘Unleashed’: Dave Bautista To Star In Netflix’s Canine Comedy From ‘Tag’ Director Jeff Tomsic

Perhaps stemming from his WWE roots, Dave Bautista loves being paired up with a tag team partner in his films. Whether it’s in Stuber or My Spy, Bautista often works best when he’s got a co-star to play off of. Well, what if that partner is a dog? We’ll find out as Bautista is set to produce and star in Unleashed, a canine comedy coming to Netflix.

Unleashed is to be directed by Jeff Tomsic (Tag), from a script by Blockers writers Jim & Brian Kehoe. Hey, those two are proven at writing comedy for former pro wrestlers, so this seems like a good fit. The story finds Bautista as a police officer who swears to never partner with a canine again after his best four-legged friend is killed on the job. But his opinion changes when he’s teamed up with Zeus.

This is a continuation of Bautista’s relationship with Netflix, as he’ll star in Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery for the streamer. He’ll also reprise his role as Drax, probably for the last time, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. [Deadline]
