‘Shang-Chi’ And ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Lead 2nd Annual Critics Choice Super Awards Nominations

The Critics Choice Awards has announced the nominees for their second annual Critics Choice Super Awards, honoring the best in popular genre including superheroes, sci-fi/fantasy, action, and horror! Leading the way this year are Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: No Way Home with five nods each!

On the television side, Paramount series Evil and Netflix’s Midnight Mass led with six nominations apiece.

Shang-Chi and Spider-Man shared nominations in multiple categories, including Best Superhero Movie. Simu Liu and Tony Leung found their way into the Best Actor in a Superhero Movie category, along with Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield. Leung is also up for Best Villain, along with Willem Dafoe for his performance as Green Goblin. Michelle Yeoh and Zendaya were also nominated for Best Actress in a Superhero Movie.

In the Best Actor in a Horror Movie category, Nicolas Cage was nominated for Willy’s Wonderland, while Yahya Abdul-Mateen II joins him for Candyman, Dave Davis for The Vigil, Vincent Lindon for Titane, a film that also found its way into the Best Horror Movie category, Cillian Murphy for A Quiet Place II, and Sam Richardson for the instant cult favorite Werewolves Within.

The Sci-fi/Fantasy nominations is the only place you’ll get to see The Green Knight take on the likes of Don’t Look Up, The Mitchells vs. The Machines, Free Guy, and Swan Song.

Other nominees include Jodie Comer for The Last Duel, Cate Blanchett for Nightmare Alley, Tom Hanks for Finch, Anya Taylor-Joy for Last Night in Soho, and many more.

Find the complete list of nominees below. Winners will be announced March 17th.
