There will be one Super Bowl ring to rule them all! Stupid pun aside, it make sense for Amazon to drop a trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power during the biggest sporting event of the year. The series, which chronicles JRR Tolkien’s stories set in the Middle Earth’s Second Age, is the most expensive ever, costing $1 billion over two seasons and 50 total hours. It’s an incredible undertaking at a huge price tag, so might as well get the money’s worth.
The new trailer teases the epic series, which follows key events set hundreds of years before Peter Jackson’s incredible Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit movies that followed. At the center of everything will be the rise to power of Middle Earth’s greatest evil: Sauron, and the forging of the Rings of Power.
Starring in the series is an ensemble that includes in part Morfydd Clark, Owain Arthur, Robert Aramayo, and Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charlie Vickers, Markella Kavenagh and Lenny Henry.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power hits Prime Video beginning September 2nd.
