‘The Cursed’ Trailer: Boyd Holbrook & Kelly Reilly Star In Sean Ellis’ Gothic Werewolf Horror

While the 2022 version of Sundance is taking place fast and furious right now, we’re seeing the release of a horror that made its mark at last year’s festival. Sean Ellis’ The Cursed, titled Eight for Silver back then, is his take on the werewolf genre, led by a cast that includes Boyd Holbrook and Kelly Reilly.

From an 18th-century French village under attack by a monstrous creature, to the battlefields of WWII, The Cursed is a werewolf story with a great, ambitious premise. However, reviews were mixed, with much of the praise landing on the atmosphere and performances. Personally, I liked it quite a lot, but Ellis took the time between festivals to give the film an upgrade…

“Sundance is always an incredible place to showcase your work,” said Ellis [via ThePlaylist] “In the time that has followed that valuable experience, we took the opportunity to invigorate the film with an updated score by Lorne Balfe; we changed much of the CGI and decided to put back much of the original in-camera effects. We also elevated elements of the story that pay tribute to the incredible multitude of layers that live within the horror genre.”

The Cursed will hit theaters on February 18th.
