‘House Of The Dragon’ Teaser: HBO’s New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff Arrives Next Year

“Dreams didn’t make us kings. Dragons did.”

And with that, the first teaser for HBO’s highly anticipated Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon, is here. Whatever you thought of how the previous show concluded, this one promises a different Westeros experience in a completely different time.

The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood novel, and centers on House Targaryen 200 years prior to events in A Song of Ice and Fire. The biggest names included, and teased in this footage are Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

HBO has added a few new names to the cast, Will Johnson as Ser Vaemond Velaryon, John Macmillan as Ser Laenor Velaryon, Savannah Steyn as Lady Laena Velaryon, and Theo Nate as Laenor Velaryon.

There isn’t much revealed here, especially for a Game of Thrones noob like myself, but the swordfighting and dragon teases are plentiful. Plus the cast is stellar.

House of the Dragon hits HBO next year.
