Keanu Reeves Reportedly Offered Kraven Role In Upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ Spinoff

Normally, I would let a rumor like this slide, but the bar for today was set pretty low with that Black Panther 2 story, so here we go. According to The Illuminerdi, Marvel has offered Keanu Reeves the role of Kraven the Hunter in his solo Spider-Man spinoff.

Reeves’ name gets mentioned for Marvel stuff all of the time, so this isn’t crazy by any means. Most recently he’s been rumored for Eternals as well as Moon Knight, the latter going to Oscar Isaac.  Kevin Feige has said he frequently speaks with Reeves a lot about upcoming projects, but so far nothing has ever made sense.

Assuming this has any validity to it, then Reeves would be taking on the role of Sergei Kravinoff, the maniacal big-game hunter from the classic “Kraven’s Last Hunt” storyline, in which he makes Spider-Man his ultimate prey. Last summer, JC Chandor (All is Lost, A Most Violent Year) was hired to direct from a script by Richard Wenk.

Reeves would certainly keep the fanboys happy, but I’m not sure he’s right for Kraven. It doesn’t feel like the right Marvel role for him. That assumes any of this is true, of course.
