Well, it can’t be all good news. Following last night’s deluge of buzz-worthy announcements, Disney has decided now is a good time to also let us know that pretty much everything is getting delayed. I’m sure they figure fans are riding such a high that they won’t notice or care. They’re probably right.
Starting with the 20th Century Studios stuff, the Ryan Reynolds video game comedy Free Guy has been bumped to May 21st 2021. It was previously due to open this month, but along with Death On the Nile was pulled from the schedule. Speaking of which, that Kenneth Branagh murder mystery sequel has also been given a new date, and will now open on September 17th 2021. Meanwhile, The King’s Man moves to March 12th 2021, and Searchlight’s Guillermo Del Toro-produced horror Antlers has been yanked from the schedule. My guess is it will end up going to streaming, but we’ll see.
On the Marvel side, Thor: Love & Thunder will now open on May 6th 2022. It had been set for November 2021. Black Panther 2 will arrive on July 8th 2022, and Captain Marvel 2 will follow it on November 11th 2022.
