Tom Hardy Rumored To Be The Next James Bond

Could Tom Hardy be the next 007? With Daniel Craig set to make his final run as James Bond in No Time to Die, of course, there has been wild speculation about who will replace him. There’s no point in going through all of the possible contenders, let’s focus who is being rumored for the role right now: Tom Hardy, an actor who has been high on the list for quite a while.

Take this with a massive grain of salt, though. If this were coming from the DailyMail’s Baz Bigboye I’d be all over it, and so would every other outlet. But this comes instead from The Vulcan Reporter, who say the announcement of Hardy as the next James Bond was to be announced in November, but was delayed due to COVID-19. That sounds suspect, to me, that such a reveal would be made just as No Time to Die is set to open. Why stomp a mudhole in Craig’s final appearance?  MGM and the Bond estate would never do that, at least I seriously doubt it.

Plus, one has to wonder if Hardy would even have the time for such a thing. He’s currently tied up playing for Venom for Sony, and has the sequel coming up next summer.

So while I’m skeptical, it doesn’t mean Hardy is off the table by any stretch. He’s been a popular fan pick for the role, and has a similar physicality and rugged charm as Craig. It would be a smooth transition for the franchise, that’s for sure, rather than switching out to a totally different style of actor.

We’ll just have to wait and see. No Time to Die opens November 20th.
