Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo the Danny Trejo documentary we all know we needed and wanted. It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Danny Trejo around here at the PDC, after all it’s due to his kind and giving nature that we got our first big break. He took time out of his busy day to talk to a couple of no-name (at the time, we’re big deals now) movie geeks for their website and even dropped some exclusive news for us. That’s a reason he’ll always have a special place for us but to be honest the guy is a favorite to every genre fan there is. He’s in everything and has played perfect the badass for three decades, and he’s done so with the same swagger every time that he first brought to the public eye as Navajas in Desperado. While that’s enough to make someone a fan favorite those still waters of his run especially deep. Trejo started life on the wrong side of the tracks and ended up in prison. When he got out he turned his life around and has been doing the good guy thing ever since. Now, that is an EXTREME over-simplification of a story that, when told right, is the stuff of Oscar winning biopics. While the fictionalized version is probably a decade or so from being made we thankfully have a new documentary that looks to dig deep into the story of the most interesting man in Hollywood.
