‘The Girl In The River’ Trailer: Tiffany Haddish, Devon Sawa, Maggie Grace, & Ralph Macchio In Small-Town Crime Thriller

A small-town crime flick starring Tiffany Haddish, Devon Sawa, Maggie Grace, and Ralph Macchio is set to hit theaters and VOD in just a few weeks. The trailer has arrived for The Girl in the River, which Samuel Goldwyn Films will release on September 4th.

Written and directed by Brando Benetton, The Girl in the River “follows a seasoned criminologist and a young female psychologist are lured to a remote Mississippi town to investigate the murder of a little girl and the disappearance of her twin sister.”

As is often the case with small-town crimes, local politics and power players get in the way of police investigations and regular procedure.

Haddish’s character says, “I know you want to retire, but yesterday, two twin sisters disappeared. Their father — his political authority is absolute. We’ve already found the body. If we don’t find her sister in the next 24 hours, she won’t be back at all.”

Coming up for Haddish is Lil Rel Howery’s directorial debut, Haunted Heist. She also has a planned Girls Trip sequel in the works. It’s an interesting mix of stars that Benetton has gathered. Sawa is best known for the Final Destination franchise, and has been making a real comeback of late. Grace was a fixture in the long-running series, Lost, and also had a role in Taken. And of course, Macchio is a legend for starring in The Karate Kid films as well as Cobra Kai.
