Daniel Kaluuya has kept a low profile since starring in 2023’s The Kitchen. While he’s set for a return to voice Spider-Punk in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, and he has Chris Rock’s Misty Green coming up, Kaluuya may have found his next lead role in the new film by Together director Michael Shanks.
Deadline reports Kaluuya is in talks to star in Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel, a sci-fi thriller that Shanks wrote and will direct and produce. The story follows a man who wakes up in a mysterious, mind-bending hotel room with only himself to rely on for escape.
Kaluuya has a Barney movie in the works, but the status of that strange project remains unknown. There have been rumors that he’ll reunite with Jordan Peele on his next film, but it got pulled off Universal’s schedule and is in limbo. There’s also reports of Kaluuya developing his own Spider-Punk animated movie.
Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel (that title has to go, right?) is intriguing, though. Shanks is a promising director, and Together had great reviews and a lot of buzz coming out of Sundance. It was ultimately only a modest success at the box office, but I think bigger things are happening for him, and this could be the movie that does it.
