‘The Parlay’: Daniel Kaluuya Reuniting With ‘Judas And The Black Messiah’ Director, Teyana Taylor In Talks To Star

Daniel Kaluya has largely been off the map the last few years, taking a break from acting to do…whatever.  But now he’s coming back in a big way, and one of his upcoming projects will be a reunion with Judas and the Black Messiah director Shaka King, on a new project titled The Parlay for Amazon MGM Studios.

Deadline has the news, but no info on the plot. It’s being reported that One Battle After Another‘s Teyana Taylor is in talks to join Kaluuya. That would be one Hell of a duo if it can be nailed down. Both Kaluuya and Taylor are recent Oscar nominees in the Best Supporting categories, and you can bet Amazon/MGM will push that fact.

The Parlay is based on an original script by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie. Described as an action-crime thriller, the film’s screenplay is being revised by Akers, Bronkie, and King.

Coming up for Kaluuya is Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel, the next film by Together director Michael Shanks. He also has a small role in Chris Rock’s Misty Green, and will return to voice Spider-Punk in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. There’s also his surreal Barney movie set up at A24, which has Ayo Edibiri writing and starring.
