‘Marty Supreme’ Trailer: Timothée Chalamet Pursues Ping-Pong Dreams In Josh Safdie’s Latest

This year, the Safdie Brothers of Uncut Gems and Good Time fame have embarked on high-profile solo projects, both with A24We’ve seen quite a bit of Benny’s MMA film, The Smashing Machine, starring Dwayne Johnson. Today, A24 has released the first trailer for Josh’s table tennis dramedy Marty Supreme, starring Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet.

Marty Supreme follows the adventures of Marty Mauser, a table tennis champion who isn’t afraid to use his skills to achieve greatness and fame. Safdie directed the film, his first solo effort since 2008’s The Pleasure of Being Robbed, and co-wrote the screenplay with Ronald Bronstein.

The film also features a rare acting role for Gwyneth Paltrow as a love interest. Also in the cast are Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, Penn Jillette, Sandra Bernhard, and Fran Drescher. Philippe Petit also makes an appearance, and if you don’t know who he is, you should watch Man on Wire someday.

SYNOPSIS: Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one respects, goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness.

Marty Supreme will hit theaters on Christmas Day.
