Opening this week on Tubi is Destry Allyn Spielberg’s directorial debut, Please Don’t Feed the Children. The daughter of maybe the most famous director ever, Steven Spielberg, and actress Kate Capshaw, Destry’s film is like something her father might’ve done. A horror set in the wake of a viral outbreak targeting adults, the story is also a teen-centric coming-of-age story and drama. Michelle Dockery, Giancarlo Esposito, Zoe Colletti, and more lead the impressive cast.
I had the chance to spend a few minutes talking with Destry about Please Don’t Feed the Children. We talked about Destry’s unconventional path to filmmaking, beginning after her career as an equestrian was cut short. She talked about wanting to make a movie that focused on youthful characters with young actors in the main roles, and how she didn’t necessarily set out to make a horror movie. We also talked about wanting to tackle many different kinds of film, including her upcoming murder mystery project.
