Pixar fans may hope for more original content from the famed animation studio, but Disney knows that sequels are where the money is at. At Disney’s recent shareholder meeting, CEO Bob Iger confirmed that another Pixar sequel, Coco 2, is in the works and expected to open in 2029.
“While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart and adventure,” Iger said to shareholders. “And we can’t wait to share more soon.”
Original directors Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina are returning, along with produer Mark Nielsen.
