Australian filmmaker Sean Byrne made one Hell of a splash in 2009 with the comedy-horror The Loved Ones, winning awards at TIFF and becoming a Midnight favorite. It took six years for Byrne’s follow-up, the little-seen The Devil’s Candy. And now a decade later Byrne is back again, this time with Dangerous Animals, a new horror arriving this summer.
Jai Courtney (Suicide Squad), Hassie Harrison (Yellowstone) and Josh Heuston (Dune: Prophecy) star in Dangerous Animals, about a surfer trapped on a boat with a shark-obsessed serial killer.
The film has a script by Nick Lepard, who wrote Longlegs director Osgood Perkins’ upcoming horror Keeper starring Tatiana Maslany.
SYNOPSIS: When Zephyr, a rebellious surfer, is abducted by a shark-obsessed serial killer and held captive on his boat, she must figure out how to escape before he carries out a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below.
Dangerous Animals hits theaters on June 6th from IFC Films and Shudder. They’re busy lately.
