When Olympus Has Fallen dropped in 2013 it was the launch of a solid trilogy of action flicks led by Gerard Butler. The franchise hit a high point with 2019’s legitimately awesome Angel Has Fallen, and while there were initial promises of more sequels, instead what we’re getting is the TV series spinoff Paris Has Fallen. Gone are Butler, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, and other regulars. In their place is a cast that most in the U.S. will won’t recognize.
Fittingly, Paris Has Fallen stars a French actor, Tewfik Jallab as a protection officer facing down terrorists who have targeted the French Minister of Defense. Jallab is joined in the cast by Polite Society actress Ritu Arya, and at least one familiar face, Sean Harris of 24 Hour Party People and the Mission: Impossible movies.
Here’s the synopsis: When a terrorist group attacks a high-profile event with the French Minister of Defense as their target, protection officer Vincent Taleb (Tewfik Jallab) finds himself working with street-smart MI6 operative Zara Taylor (Ritu Arya) to save the day. But when events take a dark turn, Vincent and Zara realize that the plan extends beyond just one politician. Can this unlikely pair stop Paris from falling to a man determined on vengeance?
Episodes were written by Howard Overman, with Oded Ruskin and Hans Herbots directing the eight episodes.
Paris Has Fallen hits Hulu on December 6th.
