Daisy Ridley is having a busier year than a lot of people might know, considering the choices she’s made post-Star Wars have been smaller, character films. Her newest gig will be something different, though, as she’s agreed to star in Dedication, a new action film from James Bond and Green Lantern director Martin Campbell.
Variety reports Ridley will reunite with Campbell for Dedication. And yes, it’s a reunion as the two worked together on the hostage thriller Cleaner which opens next year.
Dedication stars Ridley as a decorated Marine Corps commander who is relieved of duty after a mission goes bad. With her career on shaky ground, she attends a dedication ceremony for her dying father, a former Marine, only for the event to be overrun by terrorists connected to her recent past. Now she must put her skills and training to the test and prove her mettle as a soldier.
Dan Gordon (The Hurricane, Wyatt Earp) wrote the screenplay.
Campbell is a veteran filmmaker who directed two of the best James Bond films, Goldeneye and Casino Royale. He also directed Edge of Darkness, Vertical Limit, Green Lantern, and The Protégé.
As I mentioned, Ridley’s recent roles have skewed more towards dramatic character pieces, such as Sometimes I Think About Dying, Young Woman and the Sea, The Marsh King’s Daughter, and Magpie which I spoke with her about.
