Rumor: Agent Venom Movie In The Works At Sony

While Venom: The Last Dance (review) is expected to be the final time we see Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, it’s unlikely to be the end of Venom on the big screen. The film’s final scene suggested as much, too, and now we might have some idea how the lethal symbiote could return. Of course, take this rumor with a grain of salt.

According to Daniel Richtman, an Agent Venom movie could be next on Sony’s list. The report says the movie is in development now, although there are no further details.

In the Marvel Comics, Agent Venom is Peter Parker’s old high school rival, Flash Thompson, who bonds with the symbiote after losing his legs in military service.  SPOILER ALERT if you haven’t already seen The Last Dance, but in the final battle we do see one of the soldiers, named Thompson, having his legs devoured by one of Knull’s Xenophage creatures. That’s followed in the post-credits by a shot of cockroach that has survived the destruction, crawling near a vial that once held a symbiote remnant.

Now, this could just be the filmmakers paying homage to a character they know fans will recognize, or the setup for a new movie. But to my memory the scene isn’t shown to be anything important, so it’s probably the former.

For those wondering, Tony Revolori plays Flash Thompson in the Tom Holland movies for Marvel Studios and he’s DEFINITELY not going to be playing Agent Venom.

My guess is that Sony Pictures will come up with new way to reintroduce Venom, but keep this rumor in the back of your mind, anyway.
