‘Companion’ Teaser: Jack Quaid And Sophie Thatcher Have A Dangerous Romance In ‘Barbarian’ Producers’ New Horror

“The Studio that Brought You The Notebook Cordially Invites You to Experience a New Kind of Love Story”

Set to the sound of “I Only Have Eyes For You”, the new teaser for Companion begins like a lot of romance dramas. You even have The Boys actor Jack Quaid looking lovingly across the dinner table to his apparent love, played by Yellowjackets star Sophie Thatcher. And yet, this is definitely NOT a romance, as it’s revealed she is handcuffed to her chair. Later, that same woman is set on fire.

Oh yeah, and the folks behind this movie? They’re the producers of the hit horror film, Barbarian, so we know they’re going to give us some crazy shit.

But the Companion footage tells us nothing of the plot, a true “teaser” in every sense of the word. We see flashes of people dancing, Quaid’s character pointing a gun at someone, a half-naked woman being dragged into a shallow grave. It’s all looking quite grim. And yet, the film’s title suggests this is a movie about relationships. Soooooo…relationships gone terribly wrong, I guess?

The film is directed and written by Drew Hancock. Others in the cast include Lukas Gage, Harvey Guillén, Megan Suri, and Rupert Friend.

Warner Bros. releases Companion in theaters on January 10th 2025.
