Boba Fett is one of the coolest Star Wars characters ever. He looks badass, and at least in the original trilogy he was largely kept a mystery. He was just this kick-ass bounty hunter who was the best in the galaxy and that’s all we needed to know. Things started to take a turn when the prequels fleshed out his origin, though…and then came The Mandalorian. Suddenly, Boba Fett wasn’t so mysterious anymore. Finally, there was The Book of Boba Fett and that went over like bantha poodoo.
So it’s unsurprising that Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison told a panel at Fan Expo Chicago (via Screen Rant) that we shouldn’t expect to see the bounty hunter appear in The Mandalorian & Grogu film. According to him, the character has been put on ice for now.
“I’m still waiting for a phone call to be quite honest,” Morrison said. “I think we’re just put on the shelf for a little bit. Maybe we come off the shelf later.”
The Book of Boba Fett was probably the most misguided of all Star Wars series on Disney+, and didn’t do its characters any favor. Did anyone like it? I don’t think so. The Mandalorian & Grogu is constructed from a bunch of storylines including what would’ve been season 4 of The Mandalorian, which you’d think Morrison would’ve been part of. Looks like the Boba Fett reclamation project will have to begin elsewhere.
The Mandalorian & Grogu opens on May 22nd 2026.
